Two stroke diesel engine on a narrow boat on the river weaver cheshire - running at normal cruising speed. Audio track separated from a video. Camera was just in front of cabin - filming for most of the time towards the bow. The sound was captured when the camera was turned to film the two boaters at the helm.

Running on idle and two short openings of the throttle. Engine is shut off by using the decompression lever which is typical for this period of time and two stroke engines. .

Contact microphones are stethoscope-like mics that you place onto a surface to record vibrations. This way, i was able to record the raw engine without wind or perspective.
